How MER Biofeedback® works
MER Biofeedback® works on the action-and-reaction principle, functioning as a dialogue between you and the technology that bypasses conscious filtering. By sending subtle sound-wave signals and measuring your body’s response via sensors, the therapist reveals hidden emotional stressors. Once stressors are identified, targeted counter-signals are applied to release emotional tension and rebalance your system, restoring your natural equilibrium. Find out more below, under „How MER Biofeedback® Works“.
Personalised stress map
Unlike one-size-fits-all approaches, every MER Biofeedback® therapy session is tailored specifically to you. Your therapist uses biofeedback technology to identify your individual stressors from over 700 potential stress indicators, including:
*Limiting beliefs (“I’m not good enough,” “I don’t deserve success,” “If I stop pushing, I will lose everything,” “I can’t make a choice; I’ll regret it.”)
* Emotional triggers (situations that cause intense fear, anxiety, panic, sadness, feelings of abandonment, anger, or irritability)
* Negative thinking patterns (self-doubt, self-criticism, self-blame, catastrophizing, perfectionism)
* Subconscious blocks holding you back (the “safety” block, fear of success, money/value blocks, or fear of failure)
Written report
After the session, you receive a detailed written report of the stressors identified and addressed.
MER Biofeedback® therapy is not suitable for
* Pregnant women
* Individuals with pacemakers, implanted glucose monitors, or transplanted organs

The Three Pillars of MER Biofeedback® Therapy
MER Biofeedback® therapy consists of three parts:
1. Identifying stress and tension: Using biofeedback technology, the therapist identifies—in real-time—the client’s emotional state and the specific thinking patterns driving their stress at the root. During therapy, the client does not need to recall, describe, or relive traumatic events or past setbacks.
As they go through the therapy sessions, the client becomes more aware of their inner world, including their limiting beliefs, emotional triggers, and negative thinking patterns that have developed over their life. This process lays the foundation for a better understanding of past behavioural patterns, supporting inner growth and positive change.
2. Balancing and harmonising stress indicators: Through the biofeedback system, the client’s own body provides feedback to the therapist on which limiting beliefs, emotional triggers, and negative thinking patterns are causing stress and tension. Once these sources are pinpointed, the therapist uses the biofeedback system to balance them. This shift facilitates a fundamental transformation, leading to new, positive ways of thinking, acting, and being in the client’s daily life
3. Supporting client transformation with positive psychology: MER Biofeedback® therapy combines biofeedback technology with positive psychology principles to create lasting change. During the session, we identify and strengthen the client’s natural strengths and internal resources, helping them develop new, positive patterns of thinking and being. To support your progress, you will receive “New Programmes” and “Affirmations” guides during your initial session. These materials help you find the right affirmations and integrate positive new habits and perspectives into your daily life.
MER Biofeedback® therapy calms the mind and relaxes the body, providing conscious control over emotional responses to difficult situations or people. As you develop stronger stress tolerance, you navigate everyday challenges with greater resilience, ease, and satisfaction—achieving lasting emotional balance and enhanced well-being.

Why MER Biofeedback® Therapy is Unique?
Using biofeedback technology, our therapist bypasses the “conscious filter” to address the body’s subconscious stress responses directly—without the need to relive the past.
Traditional counselling, talk therapy, and coaching typically rely on conscious reflection and verbal processing. This often requires clients to identify, articulate, and revisit personal experiences—a process that can be both time-intensive and emotionally demanding.
While valuable, this approach typically requires numerous sessions before underlying patterns become clear. Progress is often limited by the client’s ability to consciously recall and describe their stressors.
MER Biofeedback® therapy works differently. By communicating directly with the body’s subconscious data, we eliminate the need for you to spend hours explaining your past.
Rather than working solely with conscious thoughts, MER Biofeedback® therapy focuses on the body’s automatic stress responses. This supports awareness of patterns that may not yet be consciously recognised.
While traditional coaching tells you what to change, we provide the biological “reset” that makes that change possible—without the mental struggle.
During an MER Biofeedback® therapy session, you are not required to recall, describe, or relive traumatic events or past setbacks. You can remain completely silent and simply rest if you wish.
If talking helps you process, you’re welcome to share—but it’s never required.
We provide the insights so you don’t have to do the heavy lifting. It is a faster, deeper, and more gentle path to balance and well-being.
The essential role of the therapist
In MER Biofeedback® therapy, the therapist utilises biofeedback technology to gain direct insights into the client’s internal state, removing the need for the client to verbally recount their history or trauma.
Your certified therapist is fundamental to the efficacy of the process. By leveraging the biofeedback system, they pinpoint your specific stressors from a database of over 700 potential indicators. The technology does not operate independently; its ability to detect and balance stress indicators is entirely dependent on the therapist’s expertise and interpretation.
This personalised, expert-led approach ensures the therapy addresses your unique patterns and needs.
Exclusive certification & standards
MES Life Mastery (United Kingdom) and Lifekeskus (Estonia) are the sole providers of this methodology.
Our team consists of certified MER Biofeedback® therapists who have completed rigorous, specialised training under the direction of our lead trainer, Ulle Toomeoja, and supervisor. Please note that providers operating outside of these two organisations do not possess the required MER Biofeedback® certification or training.
Drawing upon our experience (over 20 years and 21,000+ hours of practice) with the biofeedback device, we have developed the MER Biofeedback® methodology and selected only those emotional stress indicators that give clients fast and effective results.

The result is lasting emotional balance—not temporary relief, but lasting change that continues to benefit you long after your sessions end.
Therapy helps clients gain better control over their feelings and reactions to difficult situations or people. This enhanced self-regulation enables them to focus clearly on daily activities and make more positive choices and decisions.
Drawing on over 20 years of client feedback, MER Biofeedback® therapy has consistently helped clients identify and balance limiting beliefs, emotional triggers, and negative thinking patterns through biofeedback technology. For example, by balancing feelings such as fears, anxiety, panic, low self-trust, low self-esteem, sadness, abandonment, anger, irritability, inadequacy, shame, and guilt, clients build resilience and become less susceptible to automatic stress reactions.
How Many Therapy Sessions Are Recommended
The number of sessions required is uniquely individual, depending on your specific needs and the duration and intensity of the challenges you’re facing. The interval between sessions typically ranges from three to six weeks, depending on the purpose of the therapy.
For optimal results, we recommend a minimum of three sessions.
Many clients notice positive changes after their very first session, reporting that they feel lighter, calmer, and have greater clarity about their priorities and goals. They describe having more courage to make meaningful changes and improve their quality of life. Most clients achieve noticeable, lasting results within three sessions.
Long-term depression, and other persistent negative emotional states often result in deeply rooted negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs. Addressing these complex underlying layers to balance stress indicators typically requires more sessions.
For individuals experiencing significant stress in their life or work, therapy should be delivered more systematically to provide consistent support.
Children typically require just one to two sessions to address issues such as fears, phobias, anxiety, panic, adjustment issues, anger and behavioral problems low self-esteem, and Tic disorders (including Tourette’s syndrome). [Explore Sessions, Timeline & Results for Children]
How MER Biofeedback® Works?
Your MER Biofeedback® therapist uses CE-certified technology to identify and balance (harmonise) the stress patterns that impact your focus, clarity, and performance.
MER Biofeedback® works on the action-and-reaction principle, functioning as a dialogue between you and the technology that bypasses conscious filtering.
Action (Stimulus): The therapist uses the device to send subtle sound-wave signals that correspond with specific emotions, beliefs, and thinking patterns. Your body receives these as questions.
Reaction (Response): Your body provides a subconscious answer, which are instantly captured via sensors and presented to the therapist as detailed descriptions and percentages.
Identification: This question-and-answer cycle reveals hidden emotional triggers and stress indicators, allowing the therapist to map your specific stress patterns.
Harmonisation: Once stressors are identified, targeted counter-signals are applied to release emotional tension and rebalance your system, restoring your natural equilibrium.
Expert Guidance
The therapist pinpoints stressors unique to you from a database of over 700 indicators. This technology does not operate on its own; the therapist’s skilled interpretation is essential to your progress.
The Technology
Information exchange between the biofeedback device and the client occurs via sensors on the head, wrists, and ankles. The sensors are made of a special conductive silicone, which allows for communication with low frequencies through a multi-functional interface.
In simple terms: The device simply measures your body’s natural responses and sends gentle balancing signals—similar to listening to calming and relaxing sounds.
Description of the Therapy Session
At the start of a MER Biofeedback® therapy session, the client is seated in an armchair. Sensors are then placed around the client’s head, wrists, and ankles to connect to the computer.
The use of the biofeedback device causes no discomfort, and clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the session. Using the device during therapy is analogous to using a smartwatch.
For toddlers, the sensors are attached around the head or abdomen.
Children may play during the therapy if they wish. Clients are welcome to bring toys or items that will help keep their child occupied.
Throughout the therapy, the therapist provides each client with personal, positive recommendations to improve their quality of life.
After a session, most people feel relaxed.
To support your progress, you will receive “New Programmes” and “Affirmations” guides during your initial session. These materials help you find the right affirmations and integrate positive new habits and perspectives into your daily life.
After the therapy session, the client receives a detailed written report of the stressors identified and addressed.
MER Biofeedback® therapy can be used in conjunction with medications, conventional medicine, and complementary therapies.
MER Biofeedback® therapy is not recommended for:
• Pregnant women.
• Individuals with pacemakers, glucose monitors, or transplanted organs.
• MER Biofeedback® therapy is not a substitute for medical care and should not be used for diagnosis or ongoing treatment.

Formation of Unconscious Thought Patterns and Their Influence
Unconscious thought patterns and beliefs often form through repeated exposure to specific ideas, behaviors, or emotional responses during key developmental periods or significant life experiences. These patterns can influence decision-making, emotional reactions, and behaviors without us being fully aware of their origins.
Unconscious thought patterns and limiting beliefs are programmes based on emotions and experiences that arise when we see, hear, feel, or experience something. Thus, life experiences shape our beliefs. The quality of these beliefs depends on the environment in which we were raised or the circumstances in which we currently live. Our thought patterns and beliefs are those thoughts that we consciously or unconsciously accept as truth in our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, they can obstruct our ability to live freely and comfortably.
These programmed triggers, even if we are not aware of them, guide our decisions and behaviours, and shape our lives. The feeling of lack is one of the most common programmes that we involuntarily impose on ourselves and significantly affects our lives. It is an unconscious limiting belief such as: ‘He is smarter than me’, ‘She is more beautiful than me’, ‘He is richer than me’, etc.
